Self drive to a Kakadu Crocodile Cruise on the Yellow Water at Cooinda
Yellow Water cruises are so famous not only for crocodile sightseeing but actually birding.
The Yellow
Water bird and crocodile cruise departs from Cooinda in the
south of Kakadu
National Park Australia off the Kakadu Highway. the way I explain
to my client about Kakadu is a bit old fashion but I suggest imagine
Kakadu National park Australia as a triangle laying on it's right
axis with Darwin top left, Jabiru right at the axis and Pine Creek/Katherine
way bottom left. Well coming up north from the town of Katherine
turn right into the Kakadu Highway or coming in from the Arnhem
Highway topside turn north-west off the Kakadu Highway 50km south
of the Bowali Visitor Centre and go up to Cooinda all sealed road
and about say 2klm off the highway is Cooinda as excellent local
resort with cabins, cafe, small general store, fuel, oh and above
all campground for motorhome hire and 4wd camper rentals. Now a
free shuttle takes you from here for a morning or afternoon cruise
about 500m up the road to Yellow Water boardwalk where you board
one of the guided yellow water cruises. The boats around 30 seats
and plenty of room. I wrote a Yellow

real experience.

Things to do in Darwin
Crocosaurus Cove Darwin
Crocosaurus Cove Darwin is a great way to spend 1-3 hours if you
have a layover in Darwin or overnight and need a time filler. It's
in the heart of the CBD. If you can't find time to go on a crocodile
cruise and there are many from Darwin then this is the next best
thing that will let you be real close to a live Australian saltwater
crocodile. Crocosaurus Cove is actually Crocosaurus
Cove Aquarium which is modeled after a typical Top End river
system in Northern Territory. I actually liked the display of Australian
Reptiles they had and they displayed some 70+ species of reptiles
truly fascinating as we spent hours and I went round 3 times and
I'm a local here. There are around 180 crocodiles there so they
established a little interaction for you called the 'cage
of death'.

Darwin. I think Marg and I did the very first tour with Jim and
his son. probably the best and most relaxing 4 hours I did for a
long time. Jim apart from being a great chap is a excellent guide.

cruises of the Darwin Harbour such as west arm and the mangroves
only something till then us locals had the privilege of doing in
our own boats whilst fishing. Jim has now grown and offers many
different choices of cruises so if you stuck for ideas and suggestions
of what to do in Darwin look no further. The cruise we took was
a interactive tour of a mangrove waterway of West Arm and also cruise
by old Darwin's historical Esplanade area and way out to the crocodile
trap in the harbour.

Warnings about crocodiles
How many crocodiles are there in the Northern Territory well its
estimated to be somewhere around 100 000 crocodiles in the wild.
Now protected but once hunted to near extinction around here. Crocodile
skins used to be a major export product from Australia. But always
be aware for the signs and warning when going to the " target="_blank">rivers
and parks in the Top End on crocodiles. Scary well folks did
you know that the world’s largest reptile is our very own Northern
Territory Saltwater Crocodile. The picture is of a crocodile trap
in Darwin Harbour. So if you want to see crocodiles then take a
cruise or eco adventure tour that includes a fresh
water sightseeing cruise.

Park is the best place in Australia to come face to face with the
largest reptiles on the planet! Built upon 30 years of experience
in crocodile research and conservation, the park plays host to over
a thousand crocodiles from 30cm long hatchlings to massive adults
measuring 4.7m and weighing half a ton! Our diverse array of other

airport or casuarina you come to the McMillian's Road/Vanderlin
Drive Roundabout as pictured below. Now Crocodylus Park in Berrimah
opposite police Head Quarters just some 100 metres over the roundabout.
In Nov 2007 a croc was captured and they held it in the police cells
for the night.
